Summary
So what is the solution? There are indeed answers and solutions to association problems.
But without a strong state wide organization, chances are it will be business as usual
for many community associations. We propose that meetings of different kinds for different
reasons be held throughout the state. And we have suggestions for improving attendance
at association meetings. Improve the attendance at your meeting and the value of your property
will increase. But you, or any other association, cannot do it alone. All associations
throughout the state of California must also increase their attendance if the value and
enjoyment of our properties are to increase. For without the support of the homeowners
the task shall indeed be difficult.
The truth of the matter is that property values and the enjoyment of property can only be
accomplished when we all unite and work together. There are many obstacles to overcome.
Some are minor and are quickly resolved, others are serious and will require a concerted
effort and much more time.
In addition to the matters mentioned here, the public perception of condominium living is
often not the best. Many homeowners have had an unfavorable experience living in a community
association. There are also many homeowners occupying condominiums that have negative attitudes
towards their association and community living. The reputation of community living is simply
in need of repair. This can only be accomplished on a grand scale.
All the items mentioned in this document can be solved with the united effort of the homeowners
and community, homeowner associations. We cannot rely on others to solve our problems and
decide for us how our needs are to be satisfied. We cannot expect others to resolve the
issues that plague us and provide the answers to problems that perplex us. We cannot expect
others to implement the programs essential to increase the value of our property and provide
for the enjoyment of our homes. These things we must do for ourselves and we must be united
in our resolve and in our direction. Shall we not work together?
