Membership Dues for 2008
Where would you go, to whom would you turn
to if the California Association of Homeowners Associations
did not exist?
The California Association of Homeowners Associations was
founded upon the basic principles that homeowners are entitled
to the reasonable enjoyment of their property. Homeowners
should be able to expect fair value appreciation of their
property commensurate with other housing in the same area.
This can only be achieved when homeowners are united and the
elements that have had a dilatory affect on property values
are removed.
Property values suffer when Boards of Directors have their
own agenda, display contempt and disrespect for other homeowners
and fail to use accepted democratic procedures when administering
the affairs of their respective associations.
My travels this year have taken me to every corner of California.
Throughout the year I have talked to countless numbers of
board members and homeowners, and conferred with numerous
Boards of Directors and returned hundreds if not thousands
of emails. I have assisted many associations resolve their
problems, gave advice to builders, attorneys, city councils
and provided information to legislators and out of state callers.
While the vast percentage of associations have honorable
board members that are concerned about their homeowners and
property values and enjoyment of their homes, there are far
too many that are not. This has become abundantly clear, as
I have discussed important issues with so many homeowners
and Boards across the state. It is important for the community
association industry and your property values to rid the associations
of this element. We are working diligently on this problem.
There are many issues that we are pursuing and problems we
are striving and determined to solve. However, we cannot do
it with out your help. We are asking all associations to join,
to contribute financially to the organization, and to become
involved. You have a vested interest in your property and
you should protect it. If we were not here whom would you
call and who would provide assistance to you?
