NEW PROPOSED LEGISLATION

Compensate Board of Directors; Abolish Cumulative Voting and License Property Managers.

The California Association of Homeowners Associations is not, nor have we ever been, advocates for new legislation. The Community Association industry, however, has changed and the time has arrived for new legislation to be offered and considered that will advance the purpose of the industry, increase the value of property and improve the conditions in which many homeowners are compelled to live. There are there issues to be considered, discussed and adopted.

Over the past several years I have observed a trend that is significantly and conspicuously affecting Community Associations. Daily I receive numerous calls from various associations throughout the State; these calls are from Homeowners as well as Board Members. The calls repetitively have a common theme; the callers are concerned with the status, financial, professional and formal condition of their association.

I have concluded that three causes of action are required: Compensate Board of Directors; Abolish Cumulative Voting and License Property Managers.
